Russell Peters is a comedian that does this very well - he jokes about himself and his own race so when he aims jokes at another culture, everyone is laughing together.
So, what can you joke about?

Think about how your words might be perceived by people from different backgrounds and experiences. Consider whether your joke relies on a stereotype or derogatory language, and if it does, consider whether it's worth telling.
